Scarwork

Scarwork is a specialized form of myofascial (connective tissue) release that is specifically used to resolve chronic areas of tension, pain and limited range of motion due to a well healed scar.  The scar may be from an external incision or a  laparoscopic/arthroscopic procedure which creates internal tunnels of scar tissue.

Old and new scars respond well to the work.  My clients notice chronic areas of pain such as neck and shoulder tightness, digestive issues, and low backache resolving after an adhesion from scar tissue is released.   Scarwork can also help with circulation of blood and lymph, and help nerves reconnect for better communication in areas that are numb.

Scarwork is typically scheduled for three 60 minute sessions/ 2-3 weeks apart.  When more than one scar in the area is involved a 90 minute initial session can be helpful.  At times just one scarwork session brings the desired results, and the other two sessions are not needed.

Pricing:

90 minute session= $126

60 minute session = $84

30 minute session = $42

Client's Comments on Scarwork:

Competitive tennis player, Hip replacement in 2015/recently began having limited range of motion and pain:  “Something has changed since the last treatment you administered August 2nd.   A few days later there was a definite reduction in pain, and restriction.   My hip, and groin area, has continued to release to the point I can do leg lifts, and elevate my left leg without any pain.  This has also allowed me to run, and change direction quickly.”

Recent surgery to hand:  “The skin around and in the incision site has a more normal color.  The tissues do not feel as callously or thick.  I have more movement in all three joints…able to make a tighter fist.”

Mastectomy scar   "I have  scar tissue from a radical double mastectomy.  I felt like I had a large tight rubber band around my chest.  Lisa did scar tissue work on me and relieved the tightness.  Now I can lift my arm without it pulling and catching.  After several sessions the results were unbelievable.  This has also helped with the movement of fluid (lymph) moving in my body.  I only need a little maintenance once in awhile during one of my regular massages."
